9 g auto transmission warranty question

I have just checked DSB and there are no internal notes regarding the ATF that it was declined.

Can you photo your findings and upload them to here. Those figures don't add up tbh for a 9g .

Inexplicably I've seen in the past the same type of transmission having different service intervals when fitted to different vehicles - not sure why MB did that.

Is that a typo or do you only have one month of approved used warranty remaining, because you previously mentioned buying it in January?

From the Mercedes website:

Source:

If you bought the car in January this year, and a service is due now (or was at the time of purchase), then you have a case and the supplying dealer should perform the work FOC.

However if the service is overdue or missed then the supplying is not obliged to do anything to “catchup” as there is no obligation to do so as far as I can see in the Approved Used information online.

Unless you have something in writing which suggests otherwise, then unfortunately I would be surprised if the dealer performs the missed service item as it should have been done in 2021/2 if registered in 2017.
The original poster bought his in January, I bought mine in march 2023

So have I . 👍

I get that, but. As I've said in previous posts, I've got a 12 month mercedes approved used warranty, and if the gearbox develops a fault, and the service hasn't been performed at year 5, service 5. Surely the warranty claim could be rejected?
Why would it be rejected?

Mercedes have issued the warranty and if they didn't do due diligence before issuing then that is their problem.

I have a 2017 c class but it is a 2018 my. I was told by Mercedes that 2017my is 5 years /75000 miles 2018my is 75000 miles no time limit. I had it done at 5 years anyway. I asked them if it would have been covered if I had a service plan (even though I never had one) they said no.

thanks for that, so do you think it might have been done? I have all the service print outs and it doesn't mention anything about gearbox service

No, I dont think it has.

I was told the same, and he showed me a memo from MB uk saying (i thought) 72500 miles and no time limit but advisable after 7 years?

very confusing

Just get an MB service plan - you will very quickly (and brutally) have the answer as to what isn't due! :D

thanks for your help mate, but i'm still confused, mine has covered 50500, so does this mean it's not due ? as you had put the mileage at 77000 ?

sorry if i am missing something here, perhaps it an age thing
I booked your car in for a service basically telling the mb ess that the mileage is 77450 it's recommending a transmission service , that's telling me it's 5 years or 77500 , the website doesn't recommend things if they aren't due . It also doesn't play catch up if it was missed the last time . So if I'd put in 85000 it won't mention a transmission service . Hth.

And if he's really lucky, he might find there's an outstanding balance on that plan left unused by the previous owner and get your next service for free (as happened to me last week when enquiring about pricing for my E63).

Unfortunately the answer will be even more confusing. The Service Care Plan team will only approve what the car says is due, and not what the online quote says, not what the call centre booking team say, and not what ESS says is due. This change happened in December.

Ask me how I know. Not impressed as the Service Care Plan emails says ESS. Many customers don’t know and don’t care, but it’s causing issues for main dealer service advisors for the customers who do know, as it “removes” additional items more than it adds them.

So much so I’m not convinced service plans are beneficial at all now, even for the periods covering the “big” services.

Hi all. In January I purchased a 2017 GLC 350d ,approved used from a mb dealer in the North West. The car has covered 38k miles, one owner, 5 services (3 mb, last 2 indie). Last service was at year 5, in May 2023, at 35k. No auto transmission service was performed. I've enqured at my local mb dealer, and a indie, who said this auto transmission service should be done every 5 years. I've emailed the selling dealer and suggested to them that this missing transmission service should have been performed by themselves during their vehicle preparation, prior to sale, as the car was sold with a 12 month mb warranty ,if the transmission were to develop a fault, this may invalidate the warranty claim. They tell me the sales manager, and someone in vehicle preparation will respond with a resolution, I'm still waiting.

Should the selling dealer perform the auto transmission service for me F.O.C ,or have I got this wrong?
Advice would be welcome. Thanks.
Update.
Had a call from the sales guy, who sold me the car, the selling dealer will perform the auto transmission service F.O.C .Car is booked in this Friday 👍

Are they doing the transfer box also ?

I would guess Mercedes will do what they normally do for this type of service. Whatever that is regarding inclusion of the transfer box or not. It's worth finding out, but probably not worth being very pushy and risking the 'good will' of them doing the auto box.
