Hi all,

Ive noticed with the recent colder weather my 97 S280 is taking longer to get warm in the morning. I get warm air through the heater almost immediately but yesterday for example (which was very cold) it took a good 10-15 mins to reach 80c.

First thoughts are of course thermostat (unless anyone else has got other suggestions).

ECP lists two types:

209220020

or

209745021

Can anyone advise the difference?

Also, I dont have a workshop manual for the car and dont have much Merc spannering experience - is it a major task on the 280 engine/?

Ta muchly!

Part numbers couldnt tell you off top of my head. But obviously buy a genuine one. Think they are around sixteen quid. It takes five minutes to change. Three ten mil bolts holding it in, and its right in front of you when the bonnet is up!!!

Thanks,

Have ordered an OE part from the local dealer - €19.62 :)

Will install tomorrow, it does look to be easy barring any stupid problems.

Replaced this morning in under 10mins - verrrry easy job :)
