A 212 bashing

Yeah saw it yesterday. So its boring and it has a pointless crease and he gives it a 1-star.

Although many people dislike the look, I think the front is great (rear isnt though).

Wait until the E63 AMG comes out and he will say how pointless it is etc etc

He's finally found something he dislikes more than a Vauxhall. Obviously hard pushed for column inches if he spent that long moaning about a styling crease and couldn't find much else to constructively comment about apart from the fact that he didn't like it. Countless others will. If it sells well, they got it right - if it only sells averagely then they got it very wrong indeed

Oddly the W212 got more column inches than most cars courtesy of that crease.

The JC ST reviews are normally 75% of digression about some aspect of his life before getting to the car and some sort of manufactured point. If the car is really bland and awful it gets a small paragraph at the end.

The W212 clearly merited rather more of his direct attention. But not in a particularly good way. And yes the crease looks bad, and it's not the only dubious design aspect.

You're right - I wish I got paid like that for waffling in my reports. Beauty is always in the eye of the beholder! I remember when the 5 series first came out someone described it as having a body that only a mother could love.... ouch!

And then the W204 and W212 came along to make it look pretty by comparison:wallbash:

I've looked over the 212 a couple of times now, and on my last trip to the dealer they also had an E class coupe. I liked the side profile of the latter, but the interior space was atrocious - admittedly the car had a sunroof but I had to crank the seat well down to clear the headlining, and when I tried the back seat my head was brushing the ceiling anyway. And I'm only 5'6". I don't like the styling of the 4 door at all. Was stood by it talking to a salesman, along the lines of 'I really hope this grows on me....'. To my eye the central crease doesn't work, and I dislike the inverted 'V' styling on the fascia. I think the front fog lights look like an afterthought - they just don't 'flow' into the overall design.

Perhaps the estate will be a stunner:(

I sat in a 212 coupe and I thought it had way more space than the CLK and I'm only 5'10". :dk: I also find the 212 coupe with the AMG pack looks stunning!

You mean the 207 Coupe, the C207.

I particularly like his reviews... usually very comical

As I said beauty is in the eye of the beholder - except possibly the Allegro Vanden Plas......... They all grow on you eventually and at least some of the manufacturers are trying to be a bit different; there's only so much you can do with a box on wheels with a lot of safety regulations. Having seen a few I quite like them. New Jag XJ anyone?

I find that when a new car comes out and it WOW fantastic looking ...it can date easily and quickly...sometimes it needs to grow on you and then the looks seem to improve and it seems timeless..

Mind you sometimes its cr@p......:D and stays cr@p

whos jeremy clarkson????

A K@@B end :bannana:

Top gears sooo fake its unreal

i dont even bother wacthing it anymore, its just entertainment for the whole family to wacth

If you can't be ****d reading Clarkson's self indulgent drivel, and who could blame you, it can be summarised thusly:-

Mercedes have brought out a new E-Class four seat saloon which doesn't make you feel sick when driving it, doesn't have the performance of a Ferrari, is more comfortable than a TVR and has a crease in the rear wing. Therefore it's crap.

im a mercedes fan thats y im on this site... clarkson jumps on whatever is hot... and thinks alfas are good... yea there good if your a queer and or hairdresser.. has anyone seen him dress.. the guy has no clue
