A class engine management

Just had a problem with our A class. My wife started the car with the engine in gear, the car lurched forward a little and that was that !

She called Merc Assist and he said he would do a reset......

the car started and was fine except for a fault light on the dash.......

She was told it would now have to go to the garage for attention but it was ok to drive..

has anyone got any idea of what has happened ?

it is actually the yellow engine symbol that is illuminated !

Same thing has happened to my Mrs A-Class. The yellow engine symbol has come on. We rang Merc Assist who sent out a local engineer. He diagnosed the car and claimed a misfire in the engine being caused by the onboard computer losing some of its data was to blame. Its a common problem apparently. According to the engineer it needs to be taken to a Merc dealer who can reprogram it! Not sure what that will cost though! :-(
