a class stalling when 1st put into gear

Hi,

New to the forum and in need of a little help, i have a 1999 a class 1.6 auto and when i 1st start the cold from cold and select drive it just cuts out!if i leave for 5 mins until it has warmed up a little its fine and will be fine for the rest of the day. I took it to my local garage but they couldn't find anythin wwrong and wanted to charge £50 for a diagnostic check.Any ideas on what the problem is before i pay for the check? i have no lights on the dash and car drives perfect once the the car idle's normal
