Sent off for my tax disc - duly arrived. Now to fit it. I have one of those metal tax disc holders so armed with my mini allen key and a microfibre cloth to lay on the dash to catch any errant screws I set about changing it.

After 10 - 15 minutes (yes I am cr@p at DIY) I have managed to get all the screws out without losing any - have taken the tax disc out - put the tax disc in, and scraping my knuckles - got the screws back in.

Picked up old tax disc - about to throw it away - and did a double take...I had put the old one back in again...... DAMN.....:wallbash::wallbash::wallbash:

Should have gone to spec savers.

It's just one grey moment, don't worry until you have done the same thing three years in a row.

Could have been worse - and thrown the new one away before you realised the mistake....

Could be worse, could have been a blonde moment....;)
I use those 'Magnatax' thingies. Takes about 10 secs to get it right if you get it wrong!:thumb:

Crockers, I used to have one of those holders, lost screws and a pain in the ar$e to change the disc, so, changed to one that looks the same but, a turn of the back of about 5 degrees anti clock and hey presto, off it comes... No more losing screws!

PS available from Halfrauds

Never understood those 'hewn from billet' holders which shout look at my huge tax disc holder ;) Got one for the bike which lives in my bag to prevent theft.

I have a crappy non sticky plastic job which sits on the dash where it landed.. at least changing is easy..

Could be worse i thought omg the suction on this is strong last time i change a windscreen and a tax disc together.??? should i post this in the how to section

I'd agree, ditch the real metal one and get a plastic metal-looking one. looks 99% the same and its dead quick to swap over the discs.

i found that the real metal one fell off the windscreen in very hot weather too.... due to the weight and the heat on the sticky pads. the plastic one weighs nothing so doesnt happen
