Those really observant ones amongst us will have spotted a huge decrease in fuel prices recently. That means we can actually get to fill up the ML without the pump shutting off at £100:eek:
This morning it was running pretty low on fuel and I put 98 litres in. That's in a tank with an alleged capacity of 95.
A new record for the amount of fuel in private car for me, and I guess it was fairly close to running out....or was it?
The gauge was pointing exactly at empty and the range was just telling me to fill it!
Filled the S class yesterday for £75, but I still remember the days when you couldn't buy a TV for the price of a tank of fuel.

I regulary do about 350 miles to a tank in my W202 C240 estate, it SUPPOSEDLY has a 60 litre tank, but I managed to get 63 litres in it the other day, without really trying...that said i find the fuel gauge in the W202 useless to be honest, so its really just a guessing game most of the time.

I'm quite curious to see how much is left in the tank when the needle is showing below the yellow light.

This reminds me of a recent Top Gear episode where they had to drive (from Europe somewhere) to Blackpool and Clarkson's Jag still had over 100miles (IIRC) worth of petrol in the tank even though it was showing empty and they worked it out at about 1000mile range on one fill up

I once squeezed 82.88 litres into the E's 80 litre tank..

I noticed many pumps are running slowly in this cold weather. I suppose we are really getting the amounts shown?
Or is it that the manufacturers tank capacities are just 'nominal'?
