Well, just got back fron seeing friends.

On starting car outside temperature reading was -10.5C.

On a clear stretch of the A22 Godstone Road, gobsmacked to see -14.5C

8C in Belfast...a mild week while you lot have been freezing...

Driving home yesterday evening, saw -6C and out of curiosity, around 11pm I went to the car and took a look at the temp... -11C!!

Rain this morning, washing most of the snow away, at last!

-7 at 10-30pm last night in Chessington, should be the last real cold night for the next week at least:)

Central London - I didn't actually see anything lower then -1, it has been between 0 and +2 mostly these last few days, but then again I don't drive late at night / early morning... to the extent that the car's thermometer is accurate, of course.

-14 in Rouen on Wed
-12 on Thursday night
-10 North of Angeloume on Friday night
-8 North of Madrid last night
and temp plummeting here in Andalucia now.
Huge blanket of snow from Calais to south of Bordeaux and not one road was dangerous as all snow had been cleared by authorities that seem to care.
1648 miles @average of 50mph and overall mpg of 53 in a W210 estate 9 years old and 160,000 on the clock. Nothing to complain about really.
Happy Motoring
Regards
John

-10C at home yesterday morning.

I've been teaching at a seminar down near Littlehampton all weekend, one of the delegates who lives in Reigate missed the first day as the diesel had solidified in the fuel lines of her van. It was apparently -15C there.

Thankfully, after an unseasonable low (I actually had to buy a fleece hoody today!!), we are back to a much more pleasant 26 - 27C for the coming week. :D

I saw -10.5 on my dash Saturday night!

I was in Essex.

The lowest I saw last winter on our dash was -16.5C. Not seen it as low yet this winter.

As a matter of interest how cold is it before diesel stops flowing properly.

It depends a bit on the grade, but IIRC standard diesel starts to clog filters etc. at about -9C. Most suppliers change the formulation in winter months though to lower the threshold.

You can also get problems with condensation in the tank - any water that forms drops to the bottom of the tank and will obviously start to freeze below 0C. So good to keep the tank full.
