Hi Guys,

Has anyone used a Tuning Box on their A Class? If yes, what one did you use? I have read loads about remapping and tuning boxes and have been drawn to CHIP Express and DTUK. Has anyone used these companies?

Any help would be massively appreciated.

What I saw on MSL Instagram

Remap voids warranty

Tuning box does not as can be removed easily

Both are detectable if the manufacturer wants to dig deep.
The ECU stores values from various sensors. These values are different when you have a tuning box fitted - compared with a standard vehicle.
The manufacturer can therefore easily deduce that a tuning box has been used - even after it has been removed.
For me - the interesting dilemma would arise if I purchased a used car that was still within the manufacturers warranty and the previous owner had remapped it.
What would then happen if you took it to a dealer for some warranty work?

If you're bothered about keeping your warranty in tact then I wouldn't bother with either. If you're not bothered then a remap will get better results.

Sell it and get a 220d

I think OP has already thought of the warranty related issues, stop trying to be his dad :D.

Remap is tailored made for your engine, I believe this is the best method to extract most power from your engine.

But like above, I would look at options on buying a more powerful car instead as sooner or later, you will also be bored of the remap power increase, it never ends.

Hi Steveml63,

Thanks for the reply and help. Do you know for a fact that Mercedes will be able to trace a Tuning Box because of the mark it leaves on the ECU ? DTUK who are well respected have told me that it will be totally untraceable when removed!?

Thats exactly what I have done as well, I have purchased my A Class used but still with Warranty! Lets hope I am clear of that problem.
