2014 C63 AMG
Hello to all.

I'm looking for a a45 amg. I've found a car I like on a 67 plate. After speaking to the dealer who is an independent they have disclosed that the speedo clocks are in Kmph and not mph. The reason given is because at the time of order the owner intended to export the car once leaving the UK (I'm not sure on where it intended to end up) the digital speed however reads in mph just not the clock itself. I believe the satnav is not set to the EU either.

Can the clocks and sat nav be switched over?
Long shot yet would it be possible as the car is under warranty would this be something the main dealer would sort out?

What are your thoughts? Haven't been to see it yet, looks mint, great spec and low miles.

Reg is FY67 BVA if anyone in the industry can shed any light to it

Thanks in advance

Imagine trying to sell that on again after! Avoid like the plague

Out of curiosity surely the car itself being sold here in the UK would still meet all the EU regulations etc

From what I know it would be the clocks and satnav that would need dealing woth

Also I'm a bit confused. The data sheet states its a 2015 car when it's the Facelift car with increased power and its on a 67 plate

This is all the advice you need to heed ;)

This is most likely a car from Australia. There is a few AMG doing the rounds in Auction houses from there. I saw a CLA45 which had the same issue.

Thank you, could you point me in the right direction on how to assertiain these in future please

If you only have the reg #, register here Blue Print LIVE
Click on catalogue, fill in the reg# and press the enter key on your keyboard. You should then have the Vin#. Copy the Vin #

When you have the Vin#, log into this site, Mercedes-Benz VIN Decoder paste the Vin# into the box and you can see the datacard. You have the option to save it as a PDF if you want.

Also I'm a bit confused. The data sheet states its a 2015 car when it's the Facelift car with increased power and its on a 67 plate

I checked on another decode site and the date is the same there. Delivered 14/10/2015

I'd avoid this one with its speedo/sat nav differences and doubtful origin.

I bought my W124 E220 as a proposed Malaysian export from an independent garage in 1997. They bought 5x of them as a job lot brand new and I got the last one, Speedo/dash was converted to UK and in those days no command etc to worry about. The story I was given was they were a cancelled order destined for Malaysia but the container was diverted to the UK. However I noticed the manufacturer plates had Mercedes Benz India on them so knew they were not made here.

This was at a time when the W124 had been replaced by the W210 from 1996. I went ahead with the deal as I was getting a brand new E class with 0 miles for £19,995 when the equivalent W210 was selling for £32k. The biggest issue for me was insurance as declaring it an import tripled the insurance with most (I managed to find one to accept it as UK parts were equivalent)....

Getting £12k off meant I didn't lose when eventually sold 2 years later but without that substantial initial saving I would have been very much out of pocket on resale.

As this is not a new vehicle little point in buying unless you are getting around 35% saving off a UK equivalent and dealer will make all the changes for you...

After reading the thread... have you seen the car? I think this might be have illegal plates...

You mentioned it was at a dealers right. I had a look on the vehicle enquiry website and it has tax. This is not normal for a trader as they usually register the V5 in to trade.

Car spec'ed Malaysia. Head Unit is wrong (so will need changing), and cluster is wrong. It is Euro VI compliant though. If you are buying this, you need 3K to change the head unit and cluster. You won't have the Live Traffic features so you need to price it substantially less than a UK car if it is not already.

But its a nice spec and if you are planning on keeping it, then it can all be corrected and datacard corrected to reconfigure car's behaviour to UK spec. We've done a few actually at www.comand.co.uk

You need to get rid of this option/coding though :) DEACTIVATION OF BLUE AMBIENT ILLUMINATION"

Cheers

Note. I've edited the above post because I've decided the dealer is probably telling the truth. I.e it was possibly a UK ordered car for export to Malaysia.

Its only had 1 keeper, and the 1st registration date and 1st UK reg date are both 11/9/17

You still need about 3K to sort out the COMAND and cluster though, and it is possible to clear up the datacard and re-code the car so it behaves like a UK spec vehcicle

Cheers

Further rambings:

It was actually shipped from Mercedes on 14th October 2015, and is a Model Year 2016 car. So something is wrong.

I do know that in the past Merc have had to deal with importers going bust and recovering cars and re-registered in UK as brand new. We've seen the odd car that has sat around for 2-3 years, and this one looks like it too

Guys you're all super stars. Thank you so much for the help and advice. The car had 4,000 on the clock and is priced at 32k. Its not at a main dealer but an independent non franchised.

I spoke with MB UK this morning and they were a little miffed to it being built here for an export but said it can happen. They did go on to tell me that the head unit and clocks would need changing at cost to myself so I assumed it would be expensive to rectify.

The registration date is also a concern so I'm obviously going to pass. Its a shame as the car looks immaculate in the pictures

Thanks again
