So I have the dreaded red ABC light of doom...

Anyway Ive had the codes read, I have low pressure and have been told I need a new pump, my question is....

Will a pump from an SL fit my CL, they are both 55 amg's (although mine isnt a kompressor), the pumps look identical but the CL part number is 0034665201, where as the SL is 0034662701..... (Yes I know it would be ideal to use a new one but I cant afford one..Hence why i use Nankangs instead of Contis :)!)

Thanks,
Aidan

You would need to get pumps side by side,

Check pulley dimensions, pipe inlet & outlets in same place

I think the SL abc pump has a lower pressure output than the CL/S version. Also the pulse accumulator is on the pump itself on an SL as opposed to the CL/S version. Will it work ? I honestly don't know.

The one I saw didn't look like that but was advertise as being on an sl...it's sold now anyway...

Wheres the best place to get a second hand/recon unit from?

There is a place in the UK that rebuilds them I put the link in a previous thread, a quick search should throw it up.

OK so im not sure if its the pump or not... The red warning seems to come and go randomly, it didnt come up for a couple of days, then did, then didnt, its all over the place!

Im also getting the white ABC error on the odd occasion which disappears when I restart the car.

When I got it scanned, it was saying low pressure which is why the guy immediately said the pump was gone...

There doesnt appear to be much of a loss of fluid in either reservoir..

When I do get the RED abc warning, the car doesnt seem to be completely slammed, it just seems to be on its lowest setting without the ability to go up or down, its still perfectly driveable and it "feels" as if the abc is still working through corners.

What do you guys think? Does it really need a new pump, or should I be looking for a split pipe or something? If you look on the front passenger side, there does seem to be some fluid build up on the plastic shaft cover thing (not on the strut itself).

The fluid indicates a leak, probably on the return side, maybe the valve block washers.

I would flush it anyway, you will find the system just works better.

I'm off out now to mess about with some hydraulics...simple job, bleed the rear brakes as I had the spheres off so air got in. One man job as the car provides the pressure continuously... :)

Actually ignore that, just google translated it and it is untested!!!

Got one from the states, £350 including import duty and shipping, not too bad...

A little of topic, so appologies to the op, but have heard a lot of stories on the ABC pump, question is, how often do these need changing, ie. every 30k/40k miles do they just randomly go.
