Hi all,
After coming from a car with air suspension I'm trying to get my head around how the ABC system's various modes function. In my Phaeton, the air springs are adjusted occasionally to keep the ride high level while the dampers are adjustable and produce a firmer ride when in "sport" mode.
As I understand it, the dampers in the ABC system are entirely passive and as such, putting the system in sports mode simply changes how aggressively the system tries to keep the car level. Is this correct?
Although my dual-cheek sensor system isn't that highly calibrated, it can't tell that much difference in ride quality between normal and sport modes which made me wonder why MB bothered putting the option in place... Does the transmission setting have any effect on the suspension as well?
