I am trying to fight a ticket that I had while on a resident area, I had the permit but not displayed properly as I don't like to stick it to the windshield as it obstruct my view, it's quite large.
Cannot stick on the back side windows as well as they have been blackned and this will rip it off if you remove it.
I was told that nothing should actually be obstructing the view on the winshield, that even a small TomTom can fail the MOT as this is the law. Anyone as any link as I could defend myself saying that it is actually illegal to stick something to the windshield?
Thank you. Olivier

Tax Disc has to be on windscreen so can`t see there being a law you can use to defend yourself.

Well, apparently nothing should be on the windscreen, The tax are mandatory I guess? The local resident permit nop. Also apparently again, if you have those dice dingling in the mirror, it's illegal as it obstruct the view.
Anyone?
Thanks. Olivier

Gray area i guess, how far do you want to go with it?? Does the rear view mirror obstruct vision through the windscreen??

Things stuck on the far left or far right of the screen don't obstruct the view. We have a German emissions disc (about the same size as a tax disc) low down on the RHS.

Where exactly is the permit displayed in your car?

Anything stuck wholly outside the sweep of the windscreen wipers isn't a problem. So you have the whole near side top of the screen to play with

Humm... Look like no hope.
Thank you. I'll check the MOT site. Who knows :)

Quoted from the VOSA MOT Inspection Manual that I have:

"Windscreen Information.

Official stickers.

Official stickers that are not readily removable - such as vehicle licences, parking and access permits - are only a reason for rejection if they seriously restrict the drivers view."

That was from the June 2002 MOT inspection manual, and seems reasonable enough to be assumed to be ongoing, but do check the wording in the latest
version.
