Adblue capacity not changing after refill

Yet another odd one. Picked the car up, E Class 220d 2016, had about 500 miles showing on Adblue, added a 5 litre pack, went up to 1800 miles.

I have a busy month's driving coming up, so I bought another 10 litres and some Wynnes, figured that would see me through a few months. Added the tub, but nothing seems to have changed? I don't have the countdown, obviously the 5ltr top up showed? Ive driven about 300 miles since I put the 10 litres in.

I have an icars V2, anything I can use on that to check? Is this car in trouble?
I’ve found that for Ad-blue filling, patience really is a virtue. Upon adding(at least 5L), turn ignition on but don’t start engine, go to Ad-blue in settings, wait at least 2 min whilst it re-calibrates, should then update capacity.
Capacity is about 26L, good luck👍

Put the icarsoft on my glc today . So what do I believe? The car or these inept icarsoft scanners . 🤔🤔🤔. Range has dropped from 8100 miles on two top up occasions in 2 years.

Just to add a little bit more info on this , the other day my range fell to 2800 miles from 7100 miles with the ad blue level just a tad from full. I bought 10 litres , managed to get maybe 4 litres in. Range still on 2800 , I drove around for half an hour doing errands , I noticed the revs increased when I got to the shops , obviously doing a dpf regen , could smell and feel the heat . When the regen had finished I noticed the ad blue range had increased to 8100 , so I'd recommend a dpf regen if your range doesn't rise . I have read that Nox, dpf ,and the ad blue all chat to one another . Today I witnessed it first hand. Time for more dpf cleaner as I do only short trips. Screenshot_20250418-143908.Photos.png

Yes, I have one of each.
I don't really see the need tbh. Nothing is broken ( yet ). No infrastructure for EV where I live , so that's a no go . Going to petrol would mean a cla 35 , e300 or similar and losing 10k on my glc , plus money to upgrade , Something I'm not prepared to do. 👍.

It'll be mapped out if it goes tits up . The stp encourages regens at lower temperatures for short journeys.

Understood.

Reading these ad-blue preoblem thread scares me.
The gle is my first car ever to be diesel and the main regret, I did not know about the adblue problems particualry for people like me where the vast majority of trips are 1 or 2 miles- not having a spare tyre nearly put me from buying the car as well. However, as the petrol version of my car was the proper AMG, I could not justify the 80+k at the time (or the servicing/repairs etc as a bother has the AMG CLS and once it ran out of wrranty and some ervice items were at a very high price) as and went for the diesel version.

I dread seeing the adblue warning as some may recall I had a nox sensor problem just outside the 3 year warranty but I was lucky enough to encounter good people at MB and car was fixed FoC and I was given a choice of cars for a courtsey car a year old e class and nearly new c clss amg-lines i went for the e class and did 400 miles in the car, told MB about my plans and they said "ok..no problem."

Id be more concerned about the dpf if only doing 1 or 2 miles . You really should drive for at least 40 minutes once in a while . Usually every 300 miles a regen is attempted. I add the stp as it helps to bring up temperatures quicker so a regen takes place over a short trip . 👍. I'm on 40k now with my very very late registration 18 reg glc350 . No problems as yet . If I hadn't put the ad blue screen on the other day ,I'd of driven it in pure ignorance bliss. I do also add this anti crystal formula for obvious reasons.

I've done about 2k in miles since topping up, loads of motorway runs etc, si potentially a regen will have happened by now, but no change in the gauge.

I'm going to run a few more miles and try a top up with the ignition on and Adblue selected, see if that triggers with a 5l top up as recommended earlier in the thread. I'm assuming in near 3k of miles a regen would have happened by now?

No changes in a few days now, i have a long run planned for next week, managed to get the iCarsoft updated for now, it's not showing any fault codes in the OBDii section.

I've not had the countdown, I'm loath to put more in just in case it is fuller than the car thinks. (well, I have put 15 litres in and it's only showing 1800 miles..).

I'll email the dealer
Adding AdBlue can create problems too, over filling being one such problem creator. This AdBlue is for sure one pain the A !!!
