Adio 10 shows SERVICE

Hi I have just got a 1999 E240 everything is fine but the radio shows SERVICE and will not let me get beyond the basic functions of radio and CD the car display will either show audio off or Service. I cannot get tone, balance or station displays.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

Try disconnecting the unit from power it mght help

disconected but still stuck

My local specialist has tried that but it is still stuck in diagnostic mode.

I have got exactly the same problem. Pulled the power out, left is for few minutes. Stereo did not ask for a code and it is still presenting SERVICE on the head unit and on the car display
