Confused! Shall I sell my 2.1 C220 BlueTEC and get a E220D

Now THATS a Ford....I like old ones....I've has three Capris and a Mk2 1.3 Escort that a grafted a 3.0 V6 into!!!.....proper cars!! Notice how Mustangs don't have a Ford Blue oval......too embarrassed!! I cant imagine anyone dreams of owning any Blue Oval badged modern Ford in the same way they might an AMG, M Class BMW or even an Alfa Giulia!!!

Not sure what would be worse.....driving a car with potential AdBlue issues........or being seen driving a Ford in a public place!!!!!.....maybe this would help.

My E250 replaced a MkIV Mondeo Titanium X as my “main” car. I do see what you say and I was never a “Ford” person.. The Mondy was very much a “purchase with the head” kind of car, bought as a tool to do a job above everything else. Having said that I really grew to love it - in terms of engineering quality and design I would say it was way ahead of my Merc. Better handling and much, much more reliable! Where the Fords are let down is really in the quality/luxuriousness of the cabin. The Merc does feel much more special because of that. If Ford offered a more luxurious version I think they would clean up against their German rivals.

To be fair, 1,2,3 are all wear items. Depending on how many miles you have done, its likely they will need doing on any car.

NoX system faults are always a pain and always expensive to repair. About the only cheap repair is cleaning the nozzle when its blocked. Add to that, the issue of testing it, and having to do 200-300 miles before it check again makes its more complicated to ensure a consisten repair.

Stick with the devil you know, unless you want a change.

It puzzles me that a MB dealer said that both nex sensors needed replacing after failing to fix the issue with the nozzle cleaning and updating the system. i was told to pay £1200 for two nex sensors and MB refused to contribute to it because of mileage, when I refused and took the car to another MB dealer I was told that the nox sensors were fine!!! and that the car only needed nozzle cleaning again!! The EML came on again shortly after they and i took the car to an indie who spent a day checking the car and he confirmed that the he was 95% sure that the pump needed replacing and when the EML came on again, he said the he will need to do a thorough examination AGAIN and I am still waiting for the appointment but feel that I don’t trust any future diagnosis :(
If more parts are needed, at least I will have the two year warranty. I am now kinda regretting fitting a second hand pump.
