Right I might be mad looking at another MB especially as my CLK is currently in the garage being fixed again!!! but.

I need to get a 7 seater and there is a 112CDI manual for sale just near where I live which is a 1 owner with FSH and decent price.

Its done 150k miles should this put me off? or are these used to big milages. Its 10 years old so an average of 15k a year is probably about right.

I have a few questions:

Are there any things I should look for when viewing?

What sort of MPG can expect with 4 passengers. driving my 5.5l Clk 80 miles a day for work is quite expensive so I am hoping to save some money. I car share so it would only go out twice a week.

Are these vito's reliable? the last thing I want is another car which lets me down on the way home from work at 3am.

Thank in advance for your advice.

10 years old would be an old-shape (638, FWD) Vito. They have a pretty bad reputation - mechanically, electrically, and bodywork (rust). I would avoid, personally.

The 638 vito hasnt got best reputation due to rust but depends hows its been looked after 112CDI is the biggest power out put in range but as with a lot of the early CDI engines in early life suffered with injector issues which at the age is now i woildnt mind betting they have probley been changed,
Other that we never saw any with comman issues really.
And i have seen CDI engines pass 200,000 mile mark and still pull well.
In my opinion a high millage motor can be reliable if look after propley.

I have the older non turbo Vito, it has not required any work apart from disks and pads, basically mechanically sound. The rust is an embarrassment for Mercedes but if you don't care about their image it isn't a problem.

I do like the way you can recline the front passenger seat and with your feet on the dash it is possible to get a nice kip. The driving position suits me too.

I wouldn't worry too much about reliability. If it does the job and you like the drive I think it will be as good as anything of a similar price.

I had a 112 for 10 years and never really gave any problems. Our company had three 112s and all had injectors replaced early, all under warranty, after that we had no problems with injectors. Rustwise not to bad and does not look good particularly on white vans. We found them to be excellent work vans.

Thanks for all the replies. This one does have a full service history as its been owned by the NHS so if it needed anything doing its been done. I might go and have a look at it this afternoon as I have a rare day off today.

If it was owned by the NHS its propley as good as you get.
Best thing is they dnt normally bother with big engines repairs they normally jus bung whole new units as its vital the downtime is not long.
