Alright lads,

Has been on my mind for a while now,

In the near future im planning on re vamping my entire exaust system front to back. New front down pipes with the cat, (i think this comes as one piece) middle section etc etc,

Do you guys suggest i go down the MB original part route, or get a custom job done? (no boy racer stuff)

if i go for the custom route, how do you think they can incorporate the cats as i want new ones hence the revamp. they dont actually make cats do they?

There is the option of 'de catting' however not sure about all that and the pulava with MOT's etc, unless someone can convince me its a good idea:dk:

The main goal for me is to stay original in car spec. i would love to get the original system on the car from the dealer,

what we looking at price wise?

does any one know the rough costings of Custom Vs Dealer

Cheers.

We can quickly find out how much the OEM parts are.

Which engine and year is your car? VIN would be the most useful way of working out what's needed.

I suspect custom would be a LOT cheaper than OEM.

Hi Billy

I will be interested to see the difference in the costs from OEM and custom. I have had my coupe for 7 years and I know the exhaust will be on my hit list soon. It looks an expensive item to replace for my M104 engined model.

Hi Bh,

yes I would think the 320's would be a lot mor expensive, ive had a word with these chapps on the phone right now, Exhaust - Stainless Steel Car Exhaust Systems - Longlife Exhausts

i've booked up an apoinment where they are going to ramp her up and we can discuss posibilties, so lets see, but i'm dead on an original system from the dealer.

pop in your postcode and see where your nearest agent is.

i would say Custom would be all in for about 700 quids???

If you want to price up a custom system speak to Eldin @ EMP Performance - They are in bushey so not a million miles away from NW London.

They have done my merc and my MR2 turbo and very pleased with the results.

Why not get a Brabus AMG etc??Maybe is me but I would rather pay more money to get something that known company`s researched before, other than have one made

cheers moonloops, what was the deal with the cats on yours? they used the existing ones?

dash....thats why i would rather do the dealer thing, but am open to options with the custom making, but has to be spot on.

On the merc they left the cats in at my request, just deleted the resonator and welded on an AMG back box.

If the pipework surrounding the cats is clean they can just weld them into the new system I guess - I'm no expert :o

Look no further than here : I got a stainless steel system made for my car , to the pattern of the original , with a lifetime guarantee and for about half the price of the M-B system in mild steel .

Nice 1 Derek,

That job looks seriously good. thats exactly the sort of work i would be looking at.

the main thing that i do not want is increased noise levels with the new one.

is it worth paying that little bit extra and going for the original than having that niggle in your mind it may not be right at the end of days play?

compared to your system, mines would be a doddle:

good write up too.

Where Shude gone to? LOL:ban:
I'm working on it!!

A1244918601 rear ~£200
A1244919801 central ~£225
A1244909120 front (including cat, the expensive bit!) no price from inchcape :(
A1244908620 front (no cat) ~£330

There are loads of other bits and pieces to go with these items but frankly OEM vs custom the prices will be similar.
