Good evening all. I'm using an iCarsoft MB II on my 2012 E63, and I'm no expert on the thing. It reads the codes without problem, but for some reason, I can't seem to get it to clear them on my car. Every time I try, I get the message "Clear Trouble Code Unsuccessfully". I don't know why, and I don't know enough about the MB II to be able to find out. It could of course be user error; if so, I've no idea what I'm doing wrong. Does anybody have any ideas?

Is the unit genuine and registered on icarsoft website. ?

Be sure that it is (as mentioned above) genuine? ICarsoft still cannot tell me if mine is genuine or not, despite me allowing them to connect up to it remotely and play with it for over four hours?? THey just do not know? What they did do though was stop all communication with me - phone - email letters, the lot. I am now left with an expensive looking brick.

Also (not sure on your unit) >settings> Automatic? does not refer to your transmission. It refers to how icarsoft reads your errors >automatic > or >manually> one at a time.

SO when you go into car

>Mercedes
>C-Class
>W203
>Petrol
>Diesel
>Automatic change that to manual and try again.

Thank you all. It works OK to read the codes, which is the main thing. I bought it, used, from a forum member in good faith, but I'm beginning to wonder if it is genuine; "Clear Trouble Code Unsuccessfully" is the sort of spelling error you find in Chinglish documents...

The more I think about it, the less I like that "Clear Trouble Code Unsuccessfully", but so long as it reads the codes, it will do.

Bruce, another member has also suggested that I try the 'Manual' option for diagnosing and clearing the codes, so I'll give that a go; probably best to do it for the W212 rather than the W203, though...:D.

Also, don't forget to select RHD, as it's not highlighted by default, and can be missed, when just clicking OK through the menu :)

I wouldn't read too much into the quality of English for iCarsoft stuff - if you look at their website, you'll know what I mean.
Even the box itself (and I definitely have a genuine MB V2.0), and their corporate slogan, are seriously lacking in this department.
Works great though :)

I see what you mean. I should have remembered it's made in China, of course, as are no doubt the clones...

I've tried the manual code delete, but that doesn't do the trick either. Time to contact iCarsoft, I think.

STOP PRESS: Or maybe not...

As well as my stored codes, my EML stayed on. I found a Youtube video on clearing the EML, and to cut the story short, I used the thing in generic OBDII mode.

I cleared the codes, turned the ignition off, turned it on again, then started the engine, and Bingo! EML gone.
So are all the stored codes it had found in Benz-specific mode :banana:, except for P026A00. :dk:

I haven't the faintest idea why the generic could do what the specific couldn't, or why one solitary code remains, but I'll settle for what I've got. This little bit of Oriental wizardry is all magic to me...

Possibly because there's a tear in one of the air ducts between the front slam panel and the air cleaner box.

Mine says in the actual menu “Signal” Axle Air Suspension. Instead of Single Axle!!

This did not trouble icarsoft support who said it was not an indication of being a clone?

Is this just one of the intake pipes? Wouldn’t have thought that would bring up a code tbh.

I don't know if it is the reason, but I'll find out in due course.

A propos my MB II being a clone, I tried to register it and couldn't. This is the email I've sent iCarsoft:

"Good morning. I have an iCarsoft MB II, and I’m trying to register it and check if there are any updates available. It’s less than a year old, but I am the second owner. The serial number is 969 691 492 901.

I’ve downloaded the setup package, but when I try to get into it by putting in the serial number, it says ‘S/N Not Recognised’

This may be a problem with my home computer. I’m running Windows 7, and when I plug in the MB II, it boots up and goes to the Diagnose/Settings/Help screen, but no further. There is no icon on the ‘My Computer’ screen for the MBII, but the computer beeps when I plug it in, so it obviously recognises there’s SOMETHING there. I received a message once from the computer that it had no device driver, and I can’t find a driver for the MB II on the internet.

Firstly, is that serial number OK, or have I got a fake? If it is OK, can you help with a driver that will allow my computer to connect to the MB II?"

I'm waiting for a reply. More anon...

Hi,
Didn't Bruce end up using XP to upgrade his ??? Have you got an old machine with XP on it laying about? No doubt he will be along soon to confirm or deny.

I did use genuine Windows XP as did iCarsoft when they re -flashed it.

When they re-flashed it. It still retained the spelling mistakes. Still failed to recognise what it claims it should recognise.

They just gave up on me. I bought mine via eBay.

Hi,
I had a similar problem when I tried to update my MBII using Win7, managed to find a way round it though.
Take the Micro SD card out of the MBII & put it in a card reader, bung it in a USB port fire up the update tool & all being well it should work, it did for me.
Regards,
Paul.

Hi,
Welcome to the Forum, and a very useful first post. Do stop around.
