Hi
Looking for a bit of advice here, story is:-
A colleague who I work with is trading in his car back to the main dealer for a new one, I have approached the dealer to see if I could buy it at a reasonable trade price (I couldn’t purchase it from my colleague, he had already done the deal)
Dealer has said the car will go straight out to trade bidders and I can’t buy it at trade, he said if I wanted it I would have to pay full retail price, which is 2k more than I had offered saying that they would have to fully service it, one year’s warranty etc, see below
Mercedes-Benz UK - Approved Used - Approved Used
The car is 90,000 miles which is a bit high for retail, I know the car from new so that doesn’t bother me, and it has been fully serviced by the main dealer.
I have found out that the price I have offered was the trade in price, so the dealer is working on 2 K profit which I can understand, it would cost me about £700 for a warranty and £300 for a service anyway.
I have a couple of questions
1) My colleague has told me he has a list of advisory points which was bought up at the last service (in January), can I insist these are all fixed before I collect the car, or will they say they are only advisory,
2)Will they stamp the service book and reset the service interval on the dash, when I was trying to get the car at trade and they said they would have to service it, I said that I knew it was only just serviced but they said that didn’t matter, not too sure if the gearbox oil has been changed, at that mileage can I get them to do that if it hasn’t been done
3) have heard somewhere that there is Comand update for the satnav to the 7 figure postcode, if there is can I get them to do that as well.
Sorry it’s long winded but I want to do my homework
Alan
