My father passed away recently and my mother wishes me to try and sell their E Class Mercedes.

If you can advise where the best place to sell the car is I would be most grateful

Many Thanks,

Alan Wilson

Sorry to hear of your loss.

Is there no way you would want to keep the car.

Pistonheads, eBay, autotrader, MB sites (PM the mods to see if they'll allow you to list the car on here).

Some dealer groups may purchase the car from you, although you'll see bottom money.

I've always found ebay the best bet to sell a car on (classified rather than bids)..... or autotrader, pistonheads.

What age and model is the E class as someone may be interested on here, you never know.

Sell it quick with no question asked within an hour WeBuyAnyCar. Look for the nearest office in their Internet.

You get your money in your account within 3 days or the following day for just a fee.

Its an 05 plate 270CDi in Silver with low miles

Autotrader has the biggest national coverage and a Web entry isn't too expensive. Other possibility is the garage who serviced the car. If it was well looked after they might be interested?

Saloon/estate elegence/AG trim?, can we have some some pics?

Does it have an FSH

Its an Avantgarde with full leather

Full MB service history.

If you know anyone who might be interested, I would be more than happy to take a few pictures

I may give the MB garage in Hamilton a call to see if they are interested

How many miles are on it, and how much are you after for it. Its a desirable model and probably would sell here, or on the other forum

If I could sell mine, and the cost of change wasnt too much I'd be tempted by it!!! My mate has been talking about getting a new car and a 270cdi would be a nice comprimise of performance/economy and comfort.

Its got 42K on the clock. my father looked after it really well washing and polishing it every weekend, its got some after market alloys on it but we still have the originals. My mum would be after at least £11K for it.

Thanks for the advice

Firstly , please accept my condolences for your loss .

You might want to try a classified ad in the Scotsman / Glasgow Herald .

Both have motoring sections on a Friday and tend to be read by the type of person who might be in the market for a car of this type .

I may just do that, i have alreadt taken ***'s advice and placed an advert in the other MB forum and have placed a few calls to MB dealers in central scotland. Going to see a couple at the weekend

I think realistically you will struggle on the 11k.

Car like that is more like 8-9k tops even with 42k on it especially at a dealer.

At that price it is a tempting proposition. Kind of wished at the time found the extra grand for a 270cdi

Anyone here want a mint E220cdi with nowt options bar auto and prewire

you need to work on your sales skills Steve.

"Offered to you is an immaculate E220CDI, built to exacting standards, with a wealth of standard features, plus the highly desirable automatic gearbox and very practical telephone prewire"

my commission is a modest 10%. Thank you :)

love it :thumb:

I sense you would quite like to be the next owner of the *** wagon lol

fast learner ...................... haha nice one

Put mine up for sale @ work as the notion of a bigger engined one are nagging me.

Here is the add

I am selling my beloved Mercedes soley because I have spied another E class with a bigger engine I would like to buy and need to realise the value in this car
The car has covered 63,000 miles, has 9 months MOT and 7 Months Tax, tyres all Michelin with 6mm tread all round (good for 25k miles), has FSH, both keys, old reciepts since being in my ownership for 2 years. Engine is a 2.1.litre turbo diesel engine mated to a 5sp automatic transmission (£1300 option when new). Car is black with grey half leather interior which is unmarked.
Being an Avangarde Model (top spec) it has lowered sports suspension giving a compliant but controlled drive and fabulous handling. Avantgarde Spec also includes Bi Xenon lights which are so bright so give enhanced visibility under night time driving (the dipped beam is like full beam on lesser cars). Car has the excellent Audio 20 system with RDS radio, CD player and subwoofer intergrated in the parcel shelf.
It's also equipped with a full trip computer, cruise control and electronic speed restiction functions. There is also a useful telephone prewire and this facilitates hands free driving. Sound comes through the car hifi and the microphone is intergrated into the mirror. You can use the trip computer to scroll through your phone book and answer/reject calls all from the controls on the steering wheel!!!
Being my pride and joy it was frequently cleaned, waxed and polished and hoovered inside. Only a few minor stone chips (far less than average for cars this milliage) detract. Its in fabulous condition.
The car is HPI clear, there is no outstanding finance and is not accident damaged or on the insurance register. I have the documentation to prove its clear of finance as well, as I settled this in November 2009. .
The car will do 50mpg on a gentle run and on a trip between Glasgow and London at motorway speeds returned over 46mpg making this a very fuel efficient car for its size. I usually get about 38mpg from it commuting from Helensburgh to Cyldebank. A gas guzzler it ain't.
The car is built to an exacting standard befitting of the legendary Mercedes Benz marque, and has a high quality standard unlike your average mass market cars, and feels just the same as when I bought it at 30k miles. Folk have ran these cars in excess of 400k miles without trouble. It cost in excess of £36,000 when new, and feels just the same now. The car has a massive boot space and is favoured in the private hire business for this, as well as its superlative comfort, luxury and 5* NCAP safety. It will make an excellent reliable, safe and practical family car and is a pleasure to drive.

Please contact through notes, or call me for more info.
Payment
Bankers draft preferable or bank transfer, will accept cash too but will not release car until funds are cleared!!
