Hi, have searched forum on this subject but still need clarification please. When the Red light is illuminated on the 'Auto' and 'RES'/ 'EC' switches simultaneously, what condition should the system be in?

Many thanks

That is AC working if it needs it to maintain temp if the light is on on the Auto button

If the red light is on on the EC button then AC is off.

Thanks BC55. Am I being stupid (don’t answer!). I had Auto on with Red light illuminated. I then selected EC/REST, Red light illuminated on EC/REST switch, but the Auto Red light remained on also. Is this condition possible?

I suppose so.

It just means the AC is off if that EC/REST light is on or there is a problem eg. no gas.

As BlackC55 says you had switched the aircon off but kept the heater setting set to auto.
Generally there is no need to run the aircon unless you need cooling. Give it a run once a week to keep it in working condition.
