Air Con Question

Well if he has a leak he should be injecting dye into the system and regassing the system with nitrogen and then stripping down to gain full access to the ac components to look over it with a uv totch to determine where the leak is but over time an ac system does lose some gas.
My answer i gave was after he said he was going to have a go at it himself and Just thought i Would let him know about diy ac recharge systems so as he could make an informed decision as to what his next move could be, sorry for trying to help!

The problem with these top up canisters is that they contain the average weight of refrigerant for a car AC, generally 5 to 600 grams. Prestige cars generally require a larger charge, in my CLS it takes nigh on a kilo. What about the refrigerant that's still in there? Venting is illegal & just topping up on top of that could mean an overcharged system. So at best you're guessing & could end up with an under charged system. So for the sake of 'saving' 10 or 20 quid why not just take it to someone who knows what they're doing? A re-gas generally costs 50 to 60 quid.

Unless you have a scale handy and can count backwards. Then it's no problem.
