MB Master
This particular case refers to an aircon compressor fitted to a 2008 VW B6 Passat 1.9 turbo diesel belonging to mate of mine. I have a feeling similar units may also be found on some MB models also. Its a Delphi DH5 part no 5NO820803A and according to his local garage its toast! Now I am familiar with the old style compressors with an external electromagnetic clutch/ pulley arrangement but this compressor may be the new variable displacement squash plate type which if I understand correctly runs continuously varying its output between 2 and 100 % ? http://delphi.com/shared/pdf/ppd/heatcool/compact-variable-compressors.pdf It might however have a clutch?? which we might have a stab at replacing but if its " clutchless" then replacement seems the only answer and they ain't cheap! here's a couple of pics -not the precise unit in question but exactly the same model/ pulley arrangement. Any comments welcome from anyone with A/C compressor experience and in particular how to remove the clutch if fitted [ puller required etc and how to links?] thanks.
