Hi All

I have had my aircon regassed twice in a matter of months and yet again it does not work!

Can anyone please tell me where I might get it properly 'looked at' and rectified ...........in the Lancaster, Lancashire area.

Thank you very much for your time & help

Any Mercedes dealership?

You may be surprised at the price (pleasantly)

looks like you got a leak you need some one who can find it .

Shouldn't whoever refills the gas check for leaks, especially on a 2nd attempt? I thought it was illegal to *knowingly* replace the gas so it discharges into the atmosphere?

Sapper1743 - you don't say what year/model of car you have. If it's newer than about 1995, then your system will use R134a refrigerant. Any vehicle aircon specialist, and maybe a good MB dealer, will be able to pressure-test and leak-test it before re-gassing it if needed.

If you have a pre-1993 car and it has its original aircon set -up, then it will be R12 and more of a challenge to test and rectify (ask me how I know... I have a 1990 SEC).

It's certainly illegal to vent R12 to atmosphere (or allow that to happen), because it is allegedly an ozone-destroying CFC. R134a is not a CFC, and supposedly less harmful. But I guess it's still bad practice for a technician knowingly to let it leak...

Hello

Thank you for ALL the replies so far........

I'm the proud owner of a '99 CLK 230.

I'm going to contact my Blackpool MB dealer and see what they have to say....will let you know how I GET ON.

All the best.

I I were you, i'd take it back to whoever regassed it, and tell themm to check it properly.

From the time you tell an Aircon guy that the aircon has stopped working (especially after a regas) the first thing he checks for is leaks, especially if all the gas has gone.

Everywhere I have used including Kwicfit, check for leaks, and you appear to have one (probably in the condenser at a wild guess as these are the weak point on Mercs.)
