Hi All,

Really hoping to get a solution to my very annoying problem.

My alarm keeps going off randomly. I don't think its due to the battery as I just check it with a multimeter and the voltage reading was 12.38. I know its meant to be 12.4+ but its close enough isn't it?

I think it might be something to do with the front door as it was slammed a few weeks ago and i've had the problem since then. anyone know how I can go about solving the issue?

maybe a code reader anyone got that I can borrow? or advice on where/what on the door I should be checking for issues?

any help is much appreciated.

Thanks!

Randomly when driving or when parked and locked?

Check the operation of the door pin switches. Check for spiders in or around the interior volumetric sensors.

The only code reader that will be able to interrogate the alarm system/sensors would be MB's STAR

sorry should have clarified, when parked and locked with the key fob (so the alarm is activated).

where are the door pin switches/what do they look like?

thanks for your help

When you lock the car with the remote the hazards should flash 3 times.
If a door were left open (or the car thinks a door is open) and the car is locked with the remote then the hazards should flash 2 times.

Intentionally leaving a door open and then locking the car won’t cause the alarm to sound, it will arm as usual but not sound.

Pin switch below, not sure its same location on yours.

Could you elaborate on the slamming incident?

Alarm siren battery is going, about £70 to replace. Located behind front passenger side wheel arch liner. Is DIY.

Basically the alarms battery is meant to last around 8+ years and when it dies starts going off randomly.

Many threads on this.

As ^^^ My dads S class was doing exactly the same, siren for that cost £97 IIRC from the stealers, had it fitted and problem solved!

Thanks v much. going to see how I get on with the 2 flash vs 3 flash thing. so far so good.

re. the slamming, the door was slammed pretty hard while the car was on/engine running etc.

Although it is most likely to be as advised above, it might be the air vents.

We had a similar problem until we started leaving the air vents closed at night when it stopped completely.

Update!

I don't think it's the 2 vs 3 light flash thing. I locked the car today making sure the lights flashed 3 times and the alarm went off. One thing I did notice though is the sometimes when I lock the car, the screen display where it shows the clock doesnt turn off/go black.

Does this this mean anything?

Is there a guide somewhere on how to change the battery?

FYI it's never happened while driving. Does this mean it probably isn't the battery?

Doesn't stay on all the time mate. Just sometimes.

Confused as hell. Will a code reader pin point the issue ?

The slamming of the door and the display staying on are unlikely to be what’s causing the false alarms, as suggested above a new siren is required, it might cost £50 to have the fault diagnosed in a garage, a new siren is, from what I hear, is around £100. If you fit it yourself then no labour cost.

For now, you can unplug the siren, that will stop the false alarms, no theft insurance if no alarm.

Ok mate. How do I unplug the siren

Killerhertz is suggesting it's the battery if I understand it correctly but u r suggesting it's the actual alarm that is faulty? Does this mean just the siren part? Or the whole module?
(Assuming there is a module)?

Alarm unit has the battery built in. You replace the lot. As one unit

Search forum, many threads on this :)

Passenger side for a W209

You will need a hex-securty bit aswell. Maplin do a set of them

The siren part that’s seen in the vidio.
Examples of what happends to the inside o the alarm siren here…
