Can anyone advise?
I have a sprinter 906 that has an intermittent dash warning light (red battery symbol).
Diagnosis with an iCarsoft MBII gives fault code: G2/7 (Alternator with LIN bus) - Communication fault. (see photo).
Does anyone know: a) if I replace the alternator, will it clear the problem? b) is this just a communications problem and is the alternator still charging?
Thanks for any advice

Lin Bus is the mode of communication and I would imagine that it is a regulator problem. Let your icarsoft on while driving and monitor the voltage to see if it is being regulated.

Thank you for your reply.
I have changed the alternator regulator and all seems well now.

NB. The regulator was changed previously (about a year ago) but with an after-market part.
I have fitted a genuine Bosch one this time.

Glad that you got that sorted without too much drama.

Good you got it solved. Usually if Bus controlled alternator looses bus connection, it goes 'emergency mode' where it charge constant 14,3V.

Loads of articles on Lin Bus -Local Interconnect Network- on the net for reference
