I need a new alternator pully for my W210 220 cdi.
Does anyone know of suppliers, other than main dealer and can it be changed without having to removing the alternator?

Thanks

Chris

Hi

When mine went i took the alternator to a guy that fixes/recons alternators an ato electrician. He said it is common and had a pulley in stock, while he was at it he stuck two bearings in it for me as well, cant remember the price think it was £60/70 bound to be an old post on here.
edit http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=28134&highlight=alternator it was £40

I am sure you could do it in place but it just seemed so much handier to take it to the guy i thought at the time, Less chance of being stitched up if you know what i mean. For my E300 turbodiesel i had to take the charge pipe off to get the alternator off though.

Thanks 230K,

Thats probably the road I`ll have to go down. I`ve seen the pullys on e bay but don`t trust them.

Cheers.

Yes, the pulley can be changed without removing the alternator, you will need a (inexpensive) special tool..............do a search on this forum for more detail.
