America’s Cup

Conditions looked to me to be a bit rougher today - suited the Brits more?
Yes I think so, but the wind was still light (<10 knots I think). The commentary from the other day suggested that these AC75 boats achieve nearly 4x wind speed, which is going some. INEOS Britannia dumped the bow and nearly threw away the lead in today's second race, very close at the end.

Yes, I saw them trying to impersonate a diving submarine!

That was the Kiwis before the start of race 1 - amazing how long it took them to get back on the foils once they'd gone back to displacement mode, and how slow they were travelling while attempting to get back onto the foils - with the added problem of getting very close to a boundary penalty.
Race 2 was much more interesting and ended up nail biting despite our excellent start, we had a lead of up to just over 200m at one time but by the finish it was more like 60m and had been decreasing through the last downwind leg - normally a strong leg for Ineos Britannia. Fingernails took a beating, but we survived! Game on!!

The Kiwis enjoying a mill pond today :(

Closer today, but …

Well done NZ

NZ won by over 500m… they were better in the light-wind, flat-sea conditions. Good job by them to retain trophy, disappointing from INEOS Britannia. The wait continues.

I read a while ago that irrespective of the outcome, Ratcliff has comitted to financing our next attempt, so better luck next time!
