AMG GTC Mk1 or Mk2 ?

I guess I could do the AK47 exhaust sound ECU mod to liven things up
It will pop and crack in the over run as standard, although it’s quieter and more reluctant on the facelift model. The pre facelift will do it on lift off and start up, albeit less often and less pronounced in Comfort, and escalating through Sport, Sport+ and Race.

I mean like this, just the exhaust not the tune

Race Chip finally confirmed they are making this for the AMG GT series btw, available in the next few days, which would be better, PP Performance ECU tune or a sophistcated plug in?

If looking for generic tuning then I would be looking at the established Mercedes tuners, like Weisstec, Renntech or Brabus. Brabus don’t offer a tune for the GT C or GT R, but they do for the GT and GT S. it sure any of them do the pops and bangs maps.

Alternatively MSL Performance in Birmingham are the leading AMG tuner in the UK and they can customise the tune for your specific needs.

I would avoid Racechip….

thks Bobby pls PM me with any insights re Racehip

@DMRR, this thread and video may give you a little information to help with your decision.

I've used tuning boxes (Quality ones from TDItuning usually....Not £75 Ebay specials)....They all without fail have improved power and drivabilty...the reason I use them. NONE of them in any car improved mpg when accurately measured. Obviously if you use the extra power mpg will only ever get worse....No tuning box can beat physics. I would still use them though. I have a custom modified one for my Alfa at the moment (not fitted at the moment as I've not got round to putting it back after the MOT)....But the car feels flat without it!

OK direct ECU tunning by PP Performance it is then

Which do you like more screens and muffled sound, or dials and lots of sound? That’s pretty much it. Some options changed, and some weren’t available in the facelift. Other than that there were very minor changes to light signatures.

For the facelift, AMG Dynamic Plus package was dropped, along with some options like sports tyres (Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2] and some standard features were also dropper on the GT C Roadster like active aerodynamics, to create space for the GT R Roadster.

The AMG Dynamic Plus package (code P71) adds a Race engine mode (engaged with the same rotary controller) and also added dynamic engine and transmission mounts, firmer suspension, and yellow dials (only visible indication).

If you want your GT C to be as close as possible to the GT R then go for the pre-facelift with the AMG Dynamic Plus package and sports tyres. A few Roadsters were specked like that as the GT R Roadster wasn’t anticipated when the GT C and GT R were launched (together).
Hi guys, just signed up as I’m very close to buying a GTC. I have been waiting for a pre-facelift car with dynamic plus but nothing to date. Reason for my post and reply here is that the Merc dealer has categorically stated in writing that the facelift cars come with the dynamic package options as standard, which is why the option was dropped. That is counter to the comment above. What’s the craic, is the dealer telling porkies? He has sent me the full factory spec, are there specific build items that should be on the car that make it ‘dynamic plus’?

Dynamic engine and transmission mounts are the main differences.

What’s the reason for holding out for the Dynamic Plus if you’re not sure what come with it?

Perhaps the dealer is referring to Dynamic Select which is the rotary controller, as all facelift models got the Race option on the rotary controller.

I’ve just checked the facelift brochure and I can’t see the dynamic engine and transmission mounts mentioned in the standard specification.

Had they been included as standard them i would expect that to be called out, as it’s not common place, and was an expensive option previously.

thanks for your replies. Well that was my question to him, his reply was/is “although there isn’t an option for the Dynamic Package, the GTC comes standard with Race Mode, AMG Ride Control, electronically adjustable AMG limited slip diff, and AMG rear axle steering.” I am aware that the rear steering is standard on the c and always has been but is the AMG ride control the engine and transmission mounts, or is that something else?

Having googled amg ride control and amg dynamic plus, they are different things, so I’ll try the dealer again and see what he says. He’s currently in merc Germany doing training on the new gt car so should know what he’s talking about, you would hope.

AMG Ride Control is adjustable suspension.

Unfortunately he wouldn’t be the first salesperson to know less than the customer but blags it anyway. As you say he really ought to know it.

Can you share a link?

Yes, agreed, it really annoys me that I know more about a product than the person selling it to me. I went to look at the car today after contemplating it for a week, and my guy is away, so I was dealing with his colleague who was nice enough, but he kept talking about GTS cars for some reason and didn’t have a clue about my query.

Nice car. Cracking colour too.

The wheels have been painted all gloss black - it could be due to damage or it could be personal preference.

If you’re negotiating (whether you think it or not) you could always slip in that the non-standard painted wheels are putting you off and it’s disappointing on an approved used car, and that you’re worried what type of damage the paint is hiding. 😉

So you know, in case they ask - the standard finish is diamond cut spookes and out rim with either satin black or grey on the uncut surfaces, ie side of the spokes and inside the barrel of the wheels.

Again, whether you think it or not, you could also say that you really wanted the sports seats, and if you’re paying too money - like their car is - you didn’t want to make any compromises on spec. For what it’s worth, if you’re going to use tye car regularly then the seats in that car are actually the better choice.

The coupes are very think in the ground and ask there’s very limited choice on the used market.
