W212 E63
My new E63 is factory fitted with Pirelli P Zero. My two previous AMGs W210 E55 and W211 E55K were factory fitted with Continental Sport on the W210 and Continental Sport Contact on the W211. On the W211 as they needed changing this became Sport Contact 2, 3 and finally earlier this year Sport Contact 5.

My findings are that the Continentals have much better wet grip and much less tyre noise wet and dry than the Pirellis. I am really disappointed with the Pirelli wet grip. My view also on the Continentals is that as Sport Contact developed 2 through 5 so did the quality of the tyre performance.

With regard to noise it is difficult to be precise as the two E55s were on 18” wheels the E63 is on 19”.

What are the findings of others?

Regards

Richard

I went from P zero's to Michelin pilot sport 2 and what a difference. amazing tyres I wouldn't go back to P zero's again.

I had P Zeros initially, performed OK but went off very quickly with wear. Switched to Michelin PS3 MO1 what a revelation! Masses more grip, especially in the damp and wet. Right down to the 3mm limit I choose to set.

Had Conti 5p's, they were ok but seemed to wear like they were made of cheese. Preferred the Michelin PS's.

The Continental ContiSportContact 5 won evo magazines tyre of 2015 test in this months evo followed by the Yokohama Advan Sport V105 in second place.

My new C63S came with PSS my A45 had 5P's, can't comment on the difference as two completely differing cars

Ours came with PZERO. Nice and quiet but soft as hell. Done 7k now and I reckon a change by 9k is on the cards. With the fronts hardly worn that much, we'll put pzeros back on as we don't like mixing tyres. I have GoodYear asym 2 on one cclass, c5p on the other and cs3 on the e class. I feel the Good Years are the best all round.

My previous car (BMW M135i) and current car (C63) have/had Michelin PSS and while they provide good grip in the dry, grip in the wet is crap and it's quite noisy as well.

I very nearly bought the Yoko V105 plus they were over £100 cheaper the set.

Had P Zero when I bought the car and they were just that... Zero!

Switched to Michelin PS3 and so much better and even the steering felt different!

Now on ContiSportContact, don't notice much difference to the Michelins

On my C55 I am using DitchFinders a great budget tyre manufactured by the Skidmaster Corporation. IN between I use Falkens and love them.

5ps seem pretty good in my experience.

^ This, when they let go in the dry or wet they do so without any warning, their lateral grip in the wet is hopeless together with their many other poor issues..

I'm interested in this topic too. From reading this and other threads, it's strange how people can give different opinions on the same tyres??? I don't understand how some say they can be quieter and some say louder...and some say they have better grip or worse grip. Is it mainly down to different driving styles or could it be quality of materials/manufacturing?

Looks like continental are bringing out a sport contact 6 next month.

I've always fitted Continentals to every RWD car I've owned and always been very pleased with their performance and longevity.

We all hear different as we all have different ability to corner hence the better/worse grip..

Yep, in production now..

Do we know what sizing will be launched with sprt contact 6?
