AMG Oil Temperature

Hi,
the temp is fine. I thought the same and then the fan comes on and you think "what the hell is that"
? Its all normal and you will get used to it, the fan comes on a bit more in the summer. If you search on YouTube there is a guy in Dubai in a C63 and his temp was well over what ours will ever get to. The car seems to naturally run quite hot. I really would not worry about the engine overheating. If it got anywhere near what the car thought it could handle the computer would put it straight into limp mode to protect itself/cool down.

Yep I noticed when I replaced my bumper grilles the other day there is a cooling fan on the front of the oil cooler. I cleared all the leaves out

Mine does the same, especially with some quick driving. More information just gives us more to worry about

It only occurred to me recently that 120 odd degrees is very hot!
The other thing that panicked me was the tailpipes sitting low. They returned once cold though

StuartK, The oil temp drops when you put your chips in, after two mins, pull 'em out, let the oil heat up again and back in the oil for a further two mins and Voila !

It only occurred to me recently that 120 odd degrees is very hot!

It is but no hotter than very hot coolant. Water under pressure can go higher than 100 without boiling. So, as others have said its's normal.

Mine is warmed up to 80 degrees +++ by about 10 minutes. Though I do jump on the motorway within 2 miles every morning

It is like 8.5 Litres that's gotta get warm. Its a fair bit, heheh.

Yep stops at 80 degrees C
Yep. I always add salt and vinegar to the ashtray at that point.
