I've noticed that it fluctuates between 90oC and 120oC ish.

I also noticed that in manual mode it rises anyway.

What's the highest you've seen? Is 120oC too high?

Only asking as I didn't think that hot would be good for the oil?

Hi,
the temp is fine. I thought the same and then the fan comes on and you think "what the hell is that"? Its all normal and you will get used to it, the fan comes on a bit more in the summer. If you search on YouTube there is a guy in Dubai in a C63 and his temp was well over what ours will ever get to. The car seems to naturally run quite hot. I really would not worry about the engine overheating. If it got anywhere near what the car thought it could handle the computer would put it straight into limp mode to protect itself/cool down. :thumb:

As above, nowt to worry about. My 2.3-16 would get hotter than that. Especially after a good thrashing:thumb:

Yep I noticed when I replaced my bumper grilles the other day there is a cooling fan on the front of the oil cooler. I cleared all the leaves out :)

Mine does the same, especially with some quick driving. More information just gives us more to worry about :)

It only occurred to me recently that 120 odd degrees is very hot!

The other thing that panicked me was the tailpipes sitting low. They returned once cold though

StuartK, The oil temp drops when you put your chips in, after two mins, pull 'em out, let the oil heat up again and back in the oil for a further two mins and Voila ! :D

What surprised me more was how long it takes the oil to warm up versus the water temperature! Well, when driving slowly to work anyway :)

Mine is warmed up to 80 degrees +++ by about 10 minutes. Though I do jump on the motorway within 2 miles every morning :)

That's a lot of time to wait before the fish can go in! :D

Am I right in thinking that all cars have the oil temperature flashing until it reaches the correct temperature.
