AMG ONE Beats the Nordschleife Nurburgring Record

I was pondering that too. It was certainly difficult to ascertain.

As a road car, pre-programming wouldn't make a great deal of sense (unless just for the purpose of willy-waving at the Nurburgring), so perhaps it uses multi-factor input decision logic? A combination of road speed, steering angle, multi-axis G-force, brake and throttle inputs?
Yes, there are a whole multitude of possible inputs to make it a 'smart' car. (that's with a small 'm'!) Whenever braking or cornering are obvious ones, but those would probably be gated by speed. The tricky bit is getting it to add the drag and downforce when the driver wants it.
Adaptive cruise has many of the right inputs, but is still not as predictive as a good driver. An interesting puzzle:rolleyes:

I got the point, I was merely commenting, tongue in cheek,on the relative speeds. The 919 is an engineers and race drivers wet dream, the AMG is for normal mortals.

ps. Just think of the fun you would have driving the 919 to the Ring from the UK!
I did actually drive the XJ220 back to Banbury after our record lap in 1991. Trying to maintain some form of legality it was a mixture of fun and trepidation.
The Jag was so far below its performance limits on the road that it actually used less fuel than the panting Mazda 626 used as our chase car....
With the aid of the now extinct hovercraft, we made it back to Banbury in time for lunch;)

It would cut my current home to Waitrose time by about 45 minutes!
That is Rapid with a capital 'R'. Did you see his head bouncing about at Vmax towards the end of the lap? He wasn't doing it on porpoise:eek:
