AMG SL55 Turbines - Value?

Hi folks

I bought a CLK on the weekend, and it came fitted with 18" Turbines from the SL55. I'm no huge fan of the wheels (I'd much prefer 17" Mirzams or Mekabs), and the tyres are cheap - so, I'm looking to get rid of them, but have no idea of price/value. Condition is good, but not perfect - a few bits of lacquer lifting, but no bad kerbing.

There are some historical adverts here with prices up to £750-850, which seems like quite a lot of money. I've no idea what sort of value they are actually selling for, and would rather avoid the hassle of a "no reserve" Ebay auction (too many non-payers!).

Is anyone able to please give any guidance as to what I could reasonable expect to get (so that I can advertise them once I hit the magic 30-post count)?

Thanks!

Hi welcome to the forum, i sold mine for £600 off my SL 230.

Sadly not a desirable wheel, I'd say about £350 based on your description.

 :D

This is exactly what led to my confusion in the first place - the range of prices that these things have sold for is so wide!

Any more suggestions?

If you dig a little deeper you'll find that the value isn't in the alloys so much, it's in the tyres as much as anything.

There's been a few sets for sale on here over the years, they don't shift quickly, and they end up for sale at around the £500 mark. I'll have a look for the old adverts.

If they have lacquer peeling these wheels are a pig to refurbish, I'd value them at £350 ish too.

If I was keeping my amg I'd probably of had them off you. But I'm not :(

Cheers guys. To be honest, that's not a million miles away from what I was hoping for. £350 plus the tyres seems reasonable.

In an ideal world, I would probably want to straight swap them for a set of 17s with someone who has the time to do them justice. I haven't really got the funds to go throwing around willy-nilly at new wheels, and the car just won't look right sitting on 4 axle stands! Haha!
