Hey all,
I'm having a persistent challenge with Android Auto (fully up to date on my phone), I have a Mercedes 2017 SLC 300, and perhaps at this point I should say I have had Android Auto working once, albeit briefly on this car, config\setup may or may not have fully completed, unfortunately I didn't have the engine running at the time and Command Online did it's 3min shutdown. Anyway after that it wouldn't come up anymore and the comms between the car and phone stopped, other than charging the phone - Bluetooth connectivity is fine. I have tested different cables, and I have done phone resets for Android Auto \ uninstalls re-installs, cache \ data clearances, the USB setup is good for file transfer etc. - a lot of research, including a VIN check which revealed:
14U SMARTPHONE INTEGRATION PACKAGE
16U SMARTPHONE INTEGRATION APPLE CARPLAY
17U SMARTPHONE INTEGRATION ANDROID AUTO
531 COMAND APS NTG5/NTG5.5
All of which suggests Android Auto should work fine, but despite all efforts on plugging the phone in (a Galaxy S24 Ultra - with 'Auto Blocker' off - something I understand that can cause an issue for Android Auto) the car and phone will not talk to each other. Are there any SLC owners or Mercedes owners with the Command Online system at this spec that have overcome this issue? Strangely Apple Carplay has worked like a dream in the car - although we have yet to test the wife's new Apple 16+ phone on the car to see if it works. These challenges seem rather odd with Android Auto, I generally find Android more functional and easy to work with than any Apple products, but on this particular feature it's an epic fail. I think most would agree that SatNav in cars is a dead do do, and Android Auto \ Apple CarPlay is the future of navigation in particular with free map updates \ traffic information and even mobile speed trap warnings - returned by Apple CarPlay via the wife's phone.
The only thing I've not tried is hitting reset in the Command Online system, but I've no idea whether this will kill my Mercedes Me app access to the car.
