While out and about yesterday afternoon, the brake warning comes on in the cluster - not the big, ominous red one but the brake wear one.
Not usually a problem - book it in, get it done in a couple of weeks - but we're off to Spain on Wednesday so the timing could have been better.
Phone the lease company this morning who call back to say that the deler can't do it and I'd have to go into Kwikfit. Hmmmm. So I phone the dealer and explain the problem. No problem sir, bring it in now and we'll check it out and get it sorted.
Slight problem is that I have a meeting this afternoon, public transport not an option. "OK", says the dealer, "let me see what I can do."
Calls back about 10 mins later - they can't let me have a Benz as they are all out, but can get me a Seat Leon from their sister branch if I didn't mind that. I'm OK with that, so tottle over to give them the car.
"Really sorry about the Seat sir", he says. "I've got a bay cleared now so she can go straight in and should be all sorted for you by the end of today." The Seat's fine, 800 miles old, don't worry about the fuel, so I'm off. I said that I'm unlikely to get back before they close at 1800 - no worries, we'll give you a call when it's done and either arrange to drop yours off, or you can come by tomorrow and collect it.
I've never really rated MB Gatwick and prefer Brighton - but this car has always gone to Gatwick and so was my first port of call. Place looked busy, yet they were happy to squeeze me in and help out, even with a leased company car. So hats off to them - assuming they get everything sorted.
