Another goodbye

Aswall's old clk 240 would'nt out perform this GTI.... I think looks is a matter of taste, I would go for clk in terms of looks. Badge is also a factor for me.
People's perception on driver both cars is very much different.
The biggest factor is the value of both cars after X-years of use.
If you ask me I would want both cars on my drive-way but will not swap clk for a golf.....well!!!!! may be its my age.

Please dont get me wrong Awsall's car is very lovely, I am just a luxury cars lover and dont really care about how many minutes the car does 0-60, having said that I wouldnt like a car that is too slow.

The question is though, apart from the people that drive them, howmany other people on the road count an MB as Luxury these days. I think they have lowered the brand into too many market spaces in order to sell tin. As in the 80-90s MB was known for being "built like tanks" the next 10 years will have them known for totally different reasons :( Even if they have cleared up the quality issues from the last few years there are still cars out there failing
and giving a bad experiences.

I agree with you and most people do, we now have most of the alphabets-Class of mercedes, but I think it is due to market forces and wanting a share of some car buyers....Even Porsche is now at it, I think we will have to live with it. I dont think car manufacturers can afford to exclude some people from owning there brand if they want to stay in business.
I think if we take a survey, we may find most people still think MB is a luxury brand, they would still like to own one.
