Hi all
I have just posted my first thread then saw the ‘New Members’ notice so thought I’d better introduce myself.
I have an April 2002 R230 SL500 - one of the first examples of the new model, which I bought in 2008.
Other than an alternator and both cats, it has been pretty good until the ABC issues started.
the rubber hose part on the near side front blew after years of rubbing against the metal part of the hose next to it, so it was in the garage for a couple of years until I fixed that. Then a year later both rear struts were leaking to the point of failing the MOT so it has had two more years waiting for me to find time to get my hands dirty again.
I’m now in the process of replacing the struts with two I bought from Poland but seized/frozen bolts have added quite a lot of time to the job. I’m now determined to get it back on the road as I love the car so hopefully it won’t be too long.
