Hello. Ive had my C55 just over a week now, and the rear tyres haven't got a great amount of tread left on them, but they are Michelin pilot sports. The garage put Avon Zv5's on the front, which I was a bit miffed about as he said they would be a top quality tyre, and Im not sure they are.

Am I ok mixing tyres? Its not ideal but there brand new on the front, and it seems a waste of money.

I've been doing some reading and Michelins seems the best, Im just not sure what size to go for (i.e 255 or 245) and what actual tyre. Theres pilot super sport, and PS2 and PS3, which is best assuming price doesn't matter?

Thanks for looking.

With the a ones on the front it will cause more understeer and could lead to problems. Change to PSS all around.

Avon ZV5s are decent tyres ... had them on our Audi A4 for years, very happy with the grip (FWD car).

Avon zv5's are fine , ran them on my clk430.

For me I'd pay more for Avon's than Mich..

I would only ensure same axle tyre matches (and premium all round).

I've run the same brands all round and mixed brands whilst trying something new - indeed I have MPS3 on front and GYF1A2 on rear and the car still grips the same regardless.

I actually prefer the latter to the former and intend to switch the fronts when they are worn out accordingly.

Meh i'am having serious trouble trying to source some Avon Zv5's for the rear in the correct size which is 245/35/18. Can only find 245/40/18, or 255/35/18.

Im leaning back to just getting the Michelins lol.

Kumho's KU39 will offer better grip and construction than the Avon, but I'd not overlook Hankook at present as they are offer great value..
