Hoping there may be a Glasgow local around that can advise.

I'm picking up a mates son and new bride on Saturday afternoon at the Botanic Gardens and dropping at Sloans on Argyle Street or as close as I can get for the reception.

I know Argyle Street etc. have the Bus Gates now but I'm wondering if I can come down Michell Street and onto Argyle Street.

Looks like I can come down Renfield Street to the Bus Gate, turn left onto Gordon Street then turn right onto Mitchell Street (towards the NCP) and continue down to where it narrows then joins Argyle Street.

If not I'll have to drop them as close as I can witohut entering these resticted zones or maybe just pay the £30 fine. :)

sounds feasible though I’m sure there’s a trap laid somewhere, that’s one of the reasons I don’t drive into Glasgow any more. Another being that it has descended into dereliction with little to offer - well done Glasgow District Council.
Will they be dressed in wedding finery? If not, the subway from Hillhead to St Enoch is almost door to door.

Yes, they will be dressed and it's my treat in the Merc. "wedding car" which i thought would be better than a taxi.

I'm the same, a Glasgow day out now is always by train. Car is just not an option which i guess is the way GCC want it, our council going same way.
Latest brainwave from our folks is that the disabled bays are hundreds of yards away from the train station but the bicycle access is right in front!

I found a link on the Glasgow Council web site and asked the question but they replied saying it was not their department. :wallbash:

Google maps now just seems to avoid Mitchell Street as if it's been coded out, can't even get directions to the NCP car park on the street!

Yes Pat you can go along Gordon Street and turn onto Mitchell Lane leading to Argyle Street at any time of day afaik.

Thanks, thought that to be the case.

Agreed - will be very busy in that area though

I work close to the Botanic Gardens and getting anywhere near the city centre is terrible now

Thanks everyone.

Just have to valet the car now and then add the ribbons.

I've a 05:30 am tomorrow to the airport, another airport on Saturday am then a wedding in the afternoon.
Think I should pack the electronics in. :)

How did you get on ?

Perfect, exactly as I thought and stopped in a loading bay on Argyle Street to let the happy couple out.

Was parked up in Botanic gardens for almost 2 hours while they had the pictures done but plenty for me to see while I was waiting.
I just need to get a hat now for when I'm doing this.

Got a lovely gift for a meal at a local eatery as well for my efforts which was not expected but much appreciated.
