Hi all,
Does anyone have any recommendations near Warminster/Westbury in South Wiltshire?
Especially anyone with known experience on W211.
Many thanks
Regards
Paul

I have three Mercedes specialists I could recommend in the general region. I have used all three with excellent results.

PCS in Horndean Hants.
Star-Tech in Poole Dorset.
MBS Southampton.

Thanks for the recommendation but all are at least 3 hour round trips so not very practical unfortunately. Add in the waiting time and it could be an all day trip.

Olly will provide you with a loan car, if booked.

Many of us can recommend places to visit. I'll start with The Hawkley Inn

About 40 minutes away from Warminster, free courtesy cars available if booked.

Run by a very knowledgeable, experienced and friendly ex MB mechanic.

SJB motor services just outside Bath are used by Tallis of Bath for their work .

I've no personal experience though .
Thank you. I will make contact. Much appreciated

It’s difficult for me to free up so much time. If I cannot get into the guys near Bath though I will reconsider.

So you will consider one near Portsmouth but not one that you have a link to near Salisbury?

The one I linked to in my post.
It’s not going to be easy down there but will give it a try if the guys near Bath can’t help. Thanks for the recommendation!

I will consider them too, have said in another post. Neither ideal to be honest but the Portsmouth one has loan cars so it’s more practical and perhaps can make a day out of it. Honestly none are ideal unless they are 10 mins away, I have a really busy life.

The specialist in Downton has courtesy cars. I did mention that.

Unfortunately very few Mercedes owners have a well regarded Mercedes specialist within 10 minutes of home. I’ve travelled to PCS in Horndean a few times now, and I live some way north of Birmingham. They deserve their excellent reputation.

SJB are 35 mins away although probably longer knowing the traffic.
Downtown is 50 mins away.

I travel abroad a lot in January so it’s not going to be fun to get sorted. Tempting to take it to Mercedes Salisbury or Bath but they probably won’t have the experience of a decent indie.

So true but it doesn’t open up a big hole in my diary unfortunately.
Good garages no doubt are booked out weeks in advsnce also and my other car goes in for it’s MOT tomorrow so staring down the barrel of two cars unusable.
I lost my charging cable to my star system so tried another adaptor that probably blew it up last night.
I can’t find my other scanner and last night I bought a copy of Xentry/WIS that after 3 hours I can’t install still.
Oh and I also got a puncture yesterday and the ABS light came on.
In short it’s fun and games at the moment.

We live close to Downton and Warminster is 35 to 40 minutes usually although it does depend on route and time of day.

I will have a chat with them and see what they say. If they are W211 drivetrain vibration whispers they could be the ones!

Ask for Pete.
He owns the garage 👍

Just to let you know

The courtesy cars are not anything flash! A Peugeot 206 1.4 manual and a 20 year old Focus automatic but they are clean and free and they get you around.

I have often arranged to drop off a car toward the end of the day, pick up the courtesy car and then go back the next day or when it is ready 👍👍
