Anyone ever used their fist aid kit?

I used it for a 'casualty' themed party. :D

Theres so many bandages in there I could have gone dressed as a mummy.

LOL :D That made me chuckle, the dressed as a mummy bit!

Must have been a good party...

One month ago we came around the corner to find a car upside down on our side of the road with the wheels still spinning. My son immediately phoned 999 while I helped the 2 occupants out (realised as soon as I heard voices that we knew them - didn't recognise the car at that angle!) Anyway we were in the wife's Astra so no first aid kit, however the Merc driver who was second on the sceen got theirs out, didn't need much as the only injury was a few minor scratches to the passengers hands as they flayed about (driver was OK becuase he was holding the wheel).

Lack of more serious injuries was suprising (especially as it was a S reg escort) - more shocking was the realisation of what would have happened if we had been 30 seconds or so earlier. Thinking about it this is the second time we have narrow missed a very serious collision with a car coming the other way - once had a car cross the central reservation on a dual carriageway and get T-boned by the car behind me - can just remember seeing a flash out of the corner of my eye, then an almightly bang from behind, then chaos in the rear view mirror.

never used mine, just checked it, it was out of date in 2002!:o
Just think of all that penicillin building up in the box  ;)

Bit of trivial nonsense .....

Whenever I have had the need to dig out the first aid kit with a smug 'Oh yes Mercedes Benz fit one of these as standard you know'...its been of no use.

There's everything you need for open heart surgery (give or take a couple of things maybe  )...but nothin for a kid who's fallen off their scooter and grazed a knee..unless of course you wrap them up like the michelin man.

So come on ..prove me wrong:)

I used the bandage on my dog's paw when it got cut. First time the sealed bag had been opened.

I filled the first aid compartment in the rear shelf with emergency stuff like a pack of cards, some mints, pens, small pad of paper etc... It gets too hot and the stuff in the first aid kit melts and goes funky so I keep the kit in the boot now.

Never used it for first aid but did have an obligatory quick snap with the scissors when I first opened it.

I once used a fire extinguisher that came with a car.

What an embarrassment. I was sure if the fumes from the thing would be gtoxic so I advised a few onlookers to keep clear. I then pulled the trigger and............

Drip, drip drip.

What an embarrassment, thankfully no one was trapped, but the fire quickly took hold and I was sooooo tempted to add the extinguisher to the flames. These things do have a 'sell by' date and then I would suggest you don't rely on them.

And promptly cut your finger?

I love that bit, drip, drip ,drip the other thing is if you test it now you can only say well that was OK

Well as my previous car (VW Sharan) didn't have a kit present I bought one from Aldi when they were on offer. When I swapped for the Merc I checked the contents. Oddly they seem identical. I guess that there is some german DIN standard for these things..

And whilst I have never used the car kit, we used to take a separate one when my sons played badminton. Only ever used that once as well, to bandage cut toe...

They are very useful. Not sure about the modern MB ones but BMW have started to include those aluminimum foil heat blankets which could be a lifesaver if used in the right circumstances. They always seem to forget sticking plasters tho :) ive always pop a wee pack of them into the kit for handyness.

This thread prompted me to take a look at my FA kit in the 230.
It`s quite comprehensive;the plastic wallet unfolds twice to three packs of sundry items, all in original, unused condition.
The sticky adhesive on some bandages were a little dried out though..
I couldn`t see a date-code,but i suspect it went out of date many years ago,but that would not of bothered the original owner,as he was a doctor and owned the car for twenty two years!
I dare say his Gladstone bag contained all his prefered medical accessories.
The spare tyre is original, too - the wheel has never been used and has MB balancing weights still on.
Tool kit likewise.

I used my 18 year old kit to bandage my mangled finger the other month:) I caught the finger at work on a glazing wheel spinning at 2000rpm:eek: I used the kit to dress the wound for a few weeks afterwards too:D

No gangrene has set in as yet:D

I have an uponed one which came with the car as new in 1991 - well out of date !

Having said that , I'd rather drive to the nearest chemist and let my casualty suffer major trauma ..... before I would open it !! I have a roll of elastoplast in the glove box ! I am all heart !

yes as a matter of fact i have used it three times...i have kids LOL

Just checked inside the Mondy boot - indeed there is a space for a first aid kit. There is also a space for a warning triangle.

Erm...
