Anyone got a CLS 63S shooting brake?

I am looking for the 63s because I already own a facelift CLS (350d SB). This is my problem I feel as if the pre facelift car would be like a downgrade form the interior and looks perspective. And the only other car practical car I could get is the Porsche panamera estate (which is too expensive 65k for the one I like! Now, you might be saying buy an RS6 if you want a fast, practical estate although I find it too look good, but not good enough it also doesn't have the rarity of the 63S. That's why!
Facelift certainly looks more 'modern' with deeper lines that give it more road presence (at least that's my perception)... other than that there isn't much to separate them out.

RS6 C7 is a great all-rounder. However, both RS and facelift CLS are significantly more expensive to acquire which I cannot personally justify.

I think there is one big difference between the s and non S and that is an LSD and also more than the advertised 580ish HP. My 5.5l e 63 s for example is around 630hp with 36k miles on the clock dynoed and motortrend dynoed a test one with even more grunt. While personally for me a CLS would have been preferred to me design wise vs an E class, for some reason I thought they had 4 seats. In any case even if they have 5, I haven't seen one for Sale 😅 I couldn't at the time find an e63 s estate either so ended up with a saloon with really crap options eg no folding rear seats, no dynamic seats either or distronic which I had got used to on my c63 s and wanted. Don't give up , check regularly, something should come up Search results for 'MERCEDES CLS 63 AMG S AUTO' - How Many Left?
There's a similar number of cls s versions as e63 amg s versions it seems according this website , however no idea how many are shooting brakes ☹️ I'm an estate man so a shooting brake is right up my alley with probably improved dynamics over an E class I reckon

All the CLS63s have the M157 S engine as standard, though not the slippy diff.

Mine doesn't have it. Mine is a standard non-S pre-facelift. The diff was an option on the non-S models. Post-facelift were all badged S, and quite possibly all had the diff; I don't know.

As Truespirt has mentioned I was after a S variant E63 Estate in white on top I was looking for multi contour dynamic seats, drivers pack with distronic and a few other options. It became very clear I could be waiting a long time, initially I dropped the colour and still no joy, in the end I let go of the need for the S and figured that the premium in price that I could map and fit an LSD and still have change. Found a black non S with all the options I was after. Really didn't want a black car yet offerings were slim so bought it. Cracking car, really pleased with it and to top it off popped it on a dyno and it pulled 605 bhp. So far had the niggles fixed, fresh set of PS4S's and it's due full paint correction. Do I regret not holding out for an S, right now no. Will the W213 that will no doubt replace the W212 be a S..... Yes

I have been keeping details of every S for sale over the last 4 years or so (nerd, I know……) and there have been three white ones. So it might have been a long wait. The difference in drive between the S and non S is negligible if the non S has a LSD. Glad you have found a car. And happy days with the 605hp!

Thought there were 3 - when I checked there were actually 7 (including mine)…. Guess they all look the same!…..

Do we have a definitive number of cars for the CLS63s Shooting Brake? Another UK owner here and I've never seen another on the road.
Interesting question.

I was looking on howmanyleft.co.uk this weekend for an answer. But it only gives you the total number CLS63S out there - 138 for the last quarter of 2022. It doesn’t break that down into saloons and shooting brakes….

I have got 72 in total and around 50 SORN since production, I think it's for the estates

50 on SORN seems a very high number for a fairly recent car. Are these seen as future collectibles?

I'm pretty sure the SORN has been since production where were were over 100 although I'm not sure the website is a bit peculiar!

There are 2 listings.
MERCEDES CLS63 AMG S AUTO & MERCEDES CLS 63 AMG S AUTO…
I presume that they represent cars that have been registered as per the descriptions and they don’t overlap!

Never used that site before. Looks like 137 CLS63s spread across all model years including both body styles?

So 137 CLS63s spread across model years 2013 - 2018 including both body styles.

If we assume that 1 in 5 cars sold was a Shooting Brake (purely a guess), we have around 27 cars.

Would also presume that there are more 2013 cars than 2018, as sales figures will have fallen away year by year as the model aged.

I'm good at mafs me! :p

The only mafs that matters is man mafs. Whereby you start with a cls shooting brake and end up with a w213 e63s ... or miscalculate hugely and end up with a cla45 shooting brake 😭

I've gone down a bloody rabbit hole here! Lots of interesting date on that website including new registration broken down by year.

174 new CLS 63s registered between 2014 and 2017. (None whatsoever in 13 and 18)

2014 - 15
2015 - 83
2016 - 49
2017 - 27

Which gives us 174 cars registered. Presume some have been written off or exported which pulls the number back to 137 which is the number of cars taxed or SORN'ed today

Are there any figures for how many SB's sold versus how many Coupes? I said 1 in 5 earlier, but purely a guess.

Not sure about just the S’s, but there are currently 13 saloons against 6 shooting brakes for sale on Autotrader at the mo…
