Does anyone know the sequence..something about holding 2 buttons down and wait for it to do whatever it does to reset and normalise itself..

I have the THERMATIC a/c..not sure if the fan speed to be set at any number or the direction..HELP!!

I have a thermotronic on mine and to reset the unit I had to hold down the DEFROST button and the RECYCLING button simultaneously for about 5 second I think.
On your case Try to hold down the 1st and 3rd buttons , it might work.
Good luck

What does normalising achieve? Just curious

Funnily enough, I was just researching this last night as I recently acquired the digital climate panel for my pre-facelift coupe.

The reset sequence is here, although not sure if it applies to a facelift C:

If the air distribution on the 203 is out of sinc,re set it

203

To reset heater flaps and actuators

Switch on ignition.

Press recirculated air and defrost buttons on control panel together for longer than 5 seconds.

The LED's in the defrost and recirculated air buttons flash alternately.

Wait until the LED's stop flashing (approx 30 sec) system set to defrost LED on.

Switch off ignition.

After 40 sec re start engine.

I did not notice it made any difference. Main thing is the panel works fine- was straight plug & play & no issues with it. I have noticed that I am setting controls a degree or so higher than old panel but this may be due to the digital panel being more accurate.

Excellent ..will try that later..just some stability with the temp and speed settings..

I am researching the option of retrofitting the thermotronic to my present thermatic..visual change will be great although as far as what happens behind it ,i am sure will still be thermatic since thermatic has no charcoal filters, etc..but having more accurate temp setting will be bonus..Thermatic is really unpredictable..

Good on you for having a go at fitting the unit. Might be a problem with my unit which is why i am waiting.

hold on there mate..just researching at present..just want to fiddle with present thermatic to see if i can improve or learn how to make it work for me..the thermotronic is definately something i want to get but cost is there as well and it is more visual than functional excellence from a factory fitted thermotronics with all its charcoal filter and etc..

actually wondering..could there be a group buy on the cards if more are interested..maybe alfie can do the honours..

Think you will find even when fitting the unit it will still flash up errors as it does not have the charcoal filters etc. But as you say others have fitted it purely for the visual looks and it works. Not sure how many would want it, but agree Alfie or Olly at PCS would be my choice.

who is olly?..

besides the error on charcoal filter, will the other features work..like the left and right dials..temp setting should but just wondering the what the dials do..

On my prefacelift CL203, the display works, the individual temp works, only the left airflow dial functions to control airflow on both sides. The right airflow dial has no effect.
Charcoal filter & rest button have no effect(obviously)

As Smatt says.

There are a couple of flap actuator motors and sun sensor missing from the 580 (Thermatic) system that the unit expects, so the errors read with STAR are voltage variances. I beleive the wiring is present for the sun sensor (if you have heated washer nozzles) and I'm looking into fitting the sensor to see if there is an improvement. Clearly there will be errors with this as well as the system expects to use the data from the 4 sensors to adjust the internal temp.

Apart from the visual improvement I have found the Thermotronic unit is much more sensitive (hysteresis is much smaller than the Thermatic) and does have a slightly different operating logic.
In chilling the cabin it also bleeds in a little warm air to the footwells, stops my feet from freezing!
