My Mum has just had her first service at 10K miles on her 2002 C180K Auto Coupe done by the local MB dealer.
I went over yesterday to make sure that they had stamped the service book and read the invoice of work done which mentioned that the "upper cylinder area and lambda sensor" had been cleaned, there being a charge for a pad (presumably an abrasive one) used during the job.
Can anybody tell me (saves me a call to the dealer!) what they probably did as I haven't a clue!
Mum reports that the car now feels much quicker; I fear though that she has been driving it too sedately and am now advising her to give the car a good thrashing once in a while!

Thanks,
Paul

It sounds like a minor de-coke, possibly using some injector cleaner or other cleaner.

Maybe "pad" is a special MB word for "thrash", not abrasive but abusive.

Hehe umm Paul mentioned 'PAD' so I assumed they scrubbed it on summat :p I was kinda foxed at how they would clean the upper cylinder area with a 'pad' though

Cheers for that info.
The invoice definitely mentions a "padd" (sic) and suspected they had removed the lambda sensor to give it a clean (which would certainly explain why it is now running better) but was stumped by the reference to "upper cylinder area".
Guess I'll have to give them a ring just for my own peace of mind, the prospect of Mum driving the car too slowly for the last year causing it to coke up should be good teasing material for ages to come though!
Thanks.

Paul
:p
