Mine is not quite stable on my ´98 C230 K T. Runs between appx 700-800 rpm. Is it normal?

Have just checked MAS and new airfilter, so poperbly no problem there. Are going to replace plugs, but am doubting that they will do the trick?[/FONT]

Is this with or without being in drive? Mine tends to fluctuate a little with no load, but not enough to really worry me, mine runs around 600rpm when in drive and 700rpm no load and is smoother once properly hot i.e. after being driven fairly hard, or for a good distance.
One problem with closed loop fuelling and ignition is the constant adjustments needed to keep the emissions correct, i find this often results in slightly fluctuating idle, so i wouldn't worry too much if the car drives ok.

Thanks a lot. Mine is a manual. Also talked to Mercedes. They said, that the idle is not dead on stable on the 230K, so I will just have to live with it. Nice to know that nothing is wrong

I think it's very easy to live with, especialy when you bury the throttle in the carpet, all that torque, i can forgive a slight idle roughness.
