I guess this is a W210? Remove the ash tray insert, remove the shift lever cover and you find two screws at the front of the ash tray assembly.

sorted it got it out no bulb in the cig lighter or bulb holder have to try and sorce one out for it and found my fibre optic wire hanging out of the comnad center that is a good thing as my changer never worked since i had the car even merc not fined the problem or a inependant stereo company sort it and all sorted just through a light bulb any idea where i can get a holder for the bulb

You mean the lighter assembly did not have a bulb holder attached? Could it have been changed? Do you have the bulb wiring hanging somewhere?

Perhaps you should buy a new OEM lighter part:

mine went out too, i found the bulb at the local auto parts store. its pretty rare for the bulb holder to just disappear. i suggest you go through all the wiring and see if theres something hanging to the side.

the plug is there its got 3 terminals one power and one earth the other is for the bulb thats not there i ashume its a bulb carrier that the bulb fits into like a 501 type of bulb

Haynes don't do a manual for the W210.
