Found some alternative alloys wearing good 7mm rubber but they are aspect ratio 60 compared to my current 55, in all other aspects they are the same IE 16/225/7.5

End of the world or not to worry?...

Pro: the car won't explode and go up in smoke as soon as you fit these tyres.

Con: they're not the correct size for you car.

Conclusion: personally, I wouldn't fit them.

With the way insurance companies are going at the moment then fitting the wrong sized tyres to any vehicle may not be the best idea.

Hmmm ok will probably just swap my current tyres onto the alloys then and see if I can get a bit for the 60's on Ebay.

Cheers!

3.44% economy gain and 3.44% over speedo reading. 3.44% loss of excelloration. A softer ride. Get them on and save yer other tyres for later. 😇

Having a speedo that under reads isn't ideal.

Indeed and illegal? (Although I don't know when, if ever they are checked? Except when you go through a Police speed check ....)

I've noticed on motorway when at the side of a wagon that are limited to 55-56 that my speedo reading is around 60-62 in every car I've owned, try it, you will be surprised. And yes i used to drive a wagon or two, and the taco is calibrated regularly, and the print out don't lie.

It's normal for car speedos to over read slightly, but as mentioned above they're not allowed to under read. 10% high is within the legal tolerance but unusual in my experience - the speedos in our 3 vehicles all show 3-4% above the actual speed (so 70 mph shown would really be 67-68).
