I certainly have. Someone in Scotland tried ripping me off. Ebay simply withdrew the advert. The Police up in Scotland said because I lived in Torquay, I would have to complain to the Police in my hometown. The local Police said because the offender lived in Scotland the offence was occuring up there!!! Net result....... Luckily I was not taken in, but the intent was there, I had the person's name, address and all the correspondance.

Ebay is a great idea, but by crikey it is a paradise for those with criminal intent. Someone on this forum once stated there were just 25 employees working in the UK set-up? That is nowhere near enough to properly Police something that can be so easily abused.

What annoys me the most is they don't have software that blocks adverts where the seller clearly states they are to be contacted via e-mail?? Ebay seem more interested in getting money for the advert as opposed to Policing them?

I know someone who bought a caravan that was cheap, but had the right number of zeros in it. Quite an elaborate scam with a fictious transport company for delivery etc. Paid 50% deposit. Ouch.

Police didn't want to know unfortunately. When he complained to a senior officer the response was something along the lines of "there's nothing we can really do as the criminal is overseas... and what on earth were you thinking of parting with the much money when ebay warn users all the time of scams??!! He's otherwise an intelligent chap - just got drawn in.

And IIRC there's nothing to stop the Post Office giving you the actual address of the ebay office if you ask them to, quoting the PO Box address of course.

Out of curiosity I put that post code into Autoroute 2007 and got the following message:

Address could not be found have you entered the right address?

I just put TW9 1YR

To check Autoroute, I then entered my own Postcode and that was found straight away?

When I enter this address it at least exists:

Ebay (And paypal is listed there)
HOTHAM HO
HERON SQUARE
RICHMOND SURREY
TW9 1EJ

I read how they stated the above Postcode did not exist, but saw it was an old thread so entered it into Autoroute 2007.

100% scam its so ovbious they want the user id and ure email address so they can send you a fake ebay look alike email to pay through that link which is actully not the original link and a fake !!

You have certainly done very well, but I always get the impression that Ebay are only interested in making money, not spending it on hiring folks that do not generate revenue?

Yes I get that feeling too, I can't believe there is an eBay university!
