Replaced the pilot bushing a month or so back as I had an ATF leak from the front of the sump. All seemed OK until today when I noticed a puddle of ATF from where my car was sat for no longer than 5 seconds.
Rather than a leak it seems that the car had quickly dropped a bit of ATF possibly due to overfill.
When I did the pilot bushing weeks back I was very careful to make sure the levels were OK. I got the temp of the ATF sump to roughly 80c and the fluid level was at the max line, and has been for weeks.
After seeing the slight spillage earlier and a slightly damp ATF sump, I checked the levels again and they were still at the max line, so I syphoned some out.
Is it possible that an overfill could cause the car to release some ATF in an effort to reduce the levels ?
Car drives perfectly fine when driving, however last few days it has been rough when putting into reverse but once warmed up tends to be fine.
Dried the sump housing, syphoned some ATF out. Went for a drive and it seems completely dry now.
Car is an old C240 from 2002 with 35K miles on the clock
Thanks
